This is unique among the known Guernsey fragments for being a documentary roll. There are two fragments, one giving the full length of the roll, the other merely a central section. Both are written on only one side, with, for the larger fragment (1), the unwritten reverse turned outwards when reused as a wrapper. The text is heavily damaged but provides a set of accounts organised mainly as a set of 'questa', presumably requests complaints, relating to matters such as inheritance; one other heading on (2) begins 'redditus'.

Information on dismantling

The rolls survived until the 1590s when reused as a wrapper and support for one of Guernsey's Livres de Perchage. Fragment (1) was particularly suitable as a wrapper precisely because it was longer than was needed and so could be folded back on itself better to protect the paper inside.
