Notes

Rebound in 1958, retaining only the decorated leather covers, laid down on new boards. The original boards were composed of fragments of MS and printed waste, including about 60 pages of an edition of Alexander Grammaticus printed by Pynson c. 1500 (STC 317.5) as well as D41 and D41bis. The fragments are now kept separately. The stamps O1042 and O1044 have no demonstrable Oxford connection and the printed waste, where it can be identified, comes mostly from presses in London and Paris. The tool impressions are worn but the roll does appear to be FR(1). However, this binding does not seem to belong with the main sequence of Dragon Binder work and has no tangible connection with Oxford
